DIY Minimal Holiday Wreaths
Posted by Mekenna Malan on
Bring on the holiday cheer - we're ready for Christmas! It's snowing at the ROOLEE store, we've decorated our tree, and we're browsing gift guides for our loved ones.
These two wreath DIY's - a minimal hoop and a modern triangle - will bring a fresh and stylish edge to your holiday decor. The best part? Both of these wreaths come together in minutes and can easily cost under $25. All supplies can be found at your local craft store. Alternatively, take a winter walk with friends or family to forage the greenery. Return home to assemble wreaths while sipping hot cocoa.

Minimal Hoop Wreath
MATERIALS
Brass Macrame Hoops (Between 12" - 18")
Floral Wire
Wire Cutters
Pine Cones / Tree Branches / Twigs / Acorns / Other Greens or Florals
Ribbon or Twine
STEP ONE
Trim greenery and branches and arrange in bundles on top of your hoop. For a more organic look, choose a mixture of textures and lengths. To make an asymmetrical-looking wreath, place the materials so they are all facing the same way.
STEP TWO
Once greenery is arranged how you like it, attach the bundle to the hoop using floral wire. Curve the materials to the shape of the hoop by wrapping with floral wire in multiple places.
STEP THREE
Using floral wire, attach pine cones, winter berries, or any other decoration you’d like on top of the branches and greens. Tie a bow with festive ribbon or twine to cover floral wire, or keep it minimal and leave it without.
YOU'RE DONE!
Hang your wreath somewhere nice or give as a gift.

Modern Triangular Wreath
MATERIALS
Faux or Foraged Branches (Look for straight ones)
Copper Plumbing Piece (From your local hardware store)
Floral Wire
Wire Cutters
Pine Cones / Tree Branches / Twigs / Acorns / Other Greens or Florals
Ribbon or Twine
STEP ONE
Trim your selection of greenery and branches. For a more organic look, choose a mixture of textures and lengths.
STEP TWO
Thread your branch through the copper plumbing piece. Stuff trimmed greenery, florals or twigs between the copper piece and your main branch until snug. Wrap floral wire around greenery and the branch to secure more tightly, if needed.
STEP THREE
Decorate! Add winter berries or florals to your wreath by stuffing them into the copper piece or by securing with floral wire. Use ribbon or twine to tie a bow around the branch if you'd like, or give your wreath a more minimal look by leaving it without.
STEP FOUR
Tie a piece of ribbon or twine to each end of the main branch. The size of your triangle will depend on the length of your ribbon.
YOU'RE DONE!
Hang your wreath from the center of the tied ribbon. Place anywhere in your home or give as a gift.
