2022 Summer Trends

70’s
The 70's gave us the disco era, John Travolta, and E-mail, but it also gave us flare jeans, platforms, lots of denim. Some of us (guilty) used to make fun of our moms for their 70's fashion, and some of us (guilty again) wish we could have our moms closet today!
What does the 70's look like in the eyes of 2022 summer trends? Think bright, bold colors, funky prints, platform shoes of all varieties, denim suits/jumpsuits, and maxi boho dresses. You can easily tie in the 70's trends with some patterned wide leg pants, platform sandals, a basic t-shirt + a cute bandana/head scarf!

Y2K
The late 90s and early 2000s are back for a second round with lots of hair clips, loose jeans, and butterflies. Think Bratz dolls, 13 Going on 30, and Lizzie McGuire. This is an era with heightened focus on hair accessories, cropped tanks + tees, halter dresses, and anything that you can style with a baguette bag!
In 2022, the trend is very similar to the Y2K trends, and I think we owe that to Millennial and GEN-Z nostalgia. This trend is not difficult to jump on-- grab a claw clip, crop top, and a colorful skirt and you are good to go! This is also the type of trend with a broad range of style categories. You can easily dress Y2K up with a satin dress or dress it down with some chunky sneakers.

Regencycore
In the summer of 2021, we saw a huge spike in the cottage core trend. This summer it’s been taken up a notch to Regencycore. We fully owe this trend to the rising popularity of the Netflix tv series: Bridgerton. This series takes place during the Regency era of Great Britain and provides us with a bit of a modernized look at Regency Fashion. Thanks to this, large collars, puffy sleeves, and corsets have never been more on-trend!
In 2022, we love the drama of regency core, but let’s face it— we don’t have the time or patience for 6+ layers. The Regencycore trend for us looks like flowing, floral-print dresses, puff sleeves, and embroidered details. This is a trend you mostly see in dress styles, but has made its way to classic button-ups and corset tops.
