Fall Bucket List 2020

Crisp air, colorful leaves, cozy blankets and sweaters, hot chocolate and corn mazes - there's a reason why fall is our favorite season! Cooling temperatures means it's the perfect time to explore the outdoors, snuggle up with a book, or spend the day in the kitchen cooking your favorite heartwarming meal. Autumn always goes by fast, so here are 10 must-do activities to help you make the most of this season!

---

1. Go apple picking.

Throw on your fall boots, bring some buckets, and spend the afternoon picking apples at the nearest u-pick farm (or volunteer at your local apple orchard)! A slow, meditative day spent harvesting will feel even more rewarding when you bite into the literal fruits of your labor - invite friends and family over to make caramel apples afterward!

2. Take a hike or go for a drive among the fall leaves.

If you're lucky enough to live near a mountain canyon or tree-lined hiking trail, this is the best time of year to enjoy the scenery! Bundle up, bring your camera, and dedicate an hour or two to enjoying the beautiful colors of autumn. Bonus: heat up some hot chocolate in to-go cups for the drive or store some in a small thermos for the end of your hike.

3. Have a bonfire with friends.

Nothing smells more like fall than crisp air and a crackling fire! Get your favorite people together and spend an evening outside with plenty of blankets, s'mores, and hot chocolate or apple cider. Don't forget the firewood!

4. Go to a pumpkin patch.

Is it really fall if you don't pick your own pumpkins? Exploring a pumpkin patch together and then returning home to carve the pumpkins you pick is the perfect family activity for this season. If you're not into carving pumpkins, visiting a pumpkin patch is still a must - bring home a handful of small ones to decorate with.

5. Host a soup party or chili cook-off.

The best kind of get-togethers always involve food, and fall is the coziest time of year to cook for others! Assign a few guests to bring a pot of their favorite soup, stew or chili, and assign a few others to bring rolls. Come ready to swap recipes!

6. Find the perfect everyday fall sweater.

A good autumn sweater will be both cozy and cute enough to handle anything your fall bucket list throws at it! Our newest sweaters are perfect for your bonfire night, soup party or pumpkin patch outing, and we wouldn't blame you if you ended up wearing them all season long. 7. Watch a classic black-and-white horror film.

Watching a classic horror film is a Halloween-time must! Night of the Living DeadPsycho, or any of the Universal Monster Movies (like Frankenstein or Dracula), are perfect for a low-key spooky movie marathon that won't keep you up at night.

8. DIY an autumn welcome mat to put in front of your door.

A cute, seasonal door mat is our favorite way to welcome autumn (and loved ones) into our home. Get step-by-step instructions for our easy "come in & cozy up" welcome mat DIY here!

9. Go antiquing.

While thrifting is fun any time of year, something about the changing weather has us craving copper tea kettles, vintage wooden crates, and bronze candelabras. There's no better place to find quality goods like these than at your local antique store, where the treasure hunt is part of the fun! Go thrifting for unique items to use in your soup party tablescape or to decorate your home this season.

10. Bake a loaf of pumpkin bread for a friend or neighbor.

There's a lot to be thankful for this time of year, especially friends, neighbors and family. Show someone how much you appreciate them by delivering a treat to their door! Deliver the bread in a cute loaf pan they can keep, or tied with a bow with a fall-centric message attached. Highly recommended: make two loaves, and keep one for yourself!
